A least a 69 Marquis has a ladder type frame under it running the perimeter of the floor pan. The GM "X" frame has a single frame running down the center of the car in the drive shaft hump. When they do comparisons to show how much safer a modern car is over one from the 50s they love using big GM cars with the x frame - they literally self destruct in a hard impact. A comparable sized Ford or Dodge is nowhere near as flimsy.
