: I replaced my 6V battery with an 8V.Can anyone tell me how to boost the charging rate from the regulator? Your help will be greatly appreciated.Thank you. Where would ya git a 8 volt automotive type battery?? Why not convert to 12 volt neg. ground system? It aint all that hard, done lotsa ma'self! What kind of generator unit does yer tractor have? Delco? Prestolite? If your standard 6 volt generator has a adjustable 3rd brush rotation, about the maximum charge rate will be about 16 amps, but I don't know if ya can boost the voltage to 8 V. Hmmmm....I've never fiddle with this idea, perhaps somebody out there has done this, If you have a regulator unit, this can be tweeked to pump out a bit more volts, by adjusting the adjusting screw on the voltage coil and armature spring tension.
