Went to check the charging problems on my pivot engine using the ideas you guys provided. Well I checked to see how much voltage I had in the battery before I shut the engine down. Low and behold the old alternator was charging. Amps were low but voltage was 15.2. I just left it alone because we are hot and dry and I didn't really want to tear in to and have it off for half a day. I'm guessing there is a bad connection somewhere that is not allowing voltage from the battery to get to alternator so it knows how much to charge. Therefore the new alternator/ regulator just maxed out the output. Thanks again for your help. We were 104 degrees today and supposed to be hotter tommorrow and the next day here in western Nebr. funtwohunt
