: : : The generator overcharges on my VAC. It pegs the ammeter all the way to the right. The result is that it causes my battery to boil and the battery acid water is causing a lot of corrosion. What is the cause of this and how do I fix it? : : Could be a short in the generator, a bad voltage regulator if there is one, a bad third brush if its a third brush generator, or a short in the generator wiring. I don't see generator or voltage regulator listed in my CT catalog so I can't tell... : : Gerald : Alot of chargeing circuit problems can be traced to dirty contact points in the regulator. the Cut out relay contacts maybe burnt or stuck closed if over chargeing is present. Randy Welded cut out contacts wouldn't cause over charging. Broken voltage regulator spring wouldn't cause over charging. Voltage regulator contacts that didn't conduct wouldn't cause overcharging. Only voltage regulator contacts that didn't open maybe because of an open coil would cause overcharging. But since the voltage regulator is generally considered not something adjustable, the diagnostic test is to replace it. Gerald
