Bought a leftover 2016 supercab 4x4 with the 5.0, 6 speed auto, 3.31 gears.
I came out of a 2003 F350 4x4 with a 5.4. Of course the 150 doesn't have the payload that the 350 had, but I decided that's why I had trailers.
Haven't towed a whole lot with it, a few trips to the stockyard with my loaded 16ft stock trailer,(overloaded once) and loaded fertilizer spreaders (4 ton + the spreader). I don't go crazy while towing, especially with the spreaders, but it's done fine by me.
As far as new or used, I gave about double what you're talking for the used one, (end of year rebates, blah blah blah)but I've found I get a lot more life from a vehicle I've maintained from new.
