The only fault I can see is the fellow telling you he would hold the tractor and him not doing that. I can understand the seller taking the first money in hand over a coming later and getting it BUT he should have told you that up front.
I rarely will hold some thing anymore. I have been burnt too many time but guys never showing up. So the majority of the time it is who lays the cash in my hand first gets the item. I state it that way too.
