It is a good place to ask for help, but a little more info on your part goes a long way.
Does it have a inline Sims pump or a rotary Cav style, Sims pump have a lift pump on the side that can give issues, they also have their own oil sump, if it gets low on oil it can stick the plungers when it gets hot. Have you serviced or checked the oil in the pump lately, also as said before you can have a restriction at the tank valve that allow some fuel to the pump but not enough when your working the tractor.
Surging and dying normally have little to do with over heating. My 6610 was running hot, I had flushed the radiator and sprayed water through the fins but it still ran hot baling hay. I pulled the radiator this spring to find the problem or replace the radiator if needed, I found that even though I'd cleaned the fins about 70% of them where still packed full of hay dust. After a good thorough cleaning with my pressure washer the tractor runs at the proper temp even with the AC on.
