You've driven different Deere utility tractors than I have. I've run 2020, 2640, etc. Every change of direction required shifting two levers. If you used low 3rd forward you shift into 3rd reverse and crawl, had to shift range also. THE 5000 Ford I drove of the neighbor's was the exact same way. Frustrating and not user friendly at all.
BTO I worked for had a Case 420 Construction King loader tractor. Had a reverser, but no torque converter. Built like a Brick! Township had a Case 530 Construction King TLB, torque converter drive, was amazing how fast I could put 20,000# of sand or chips in the spreader truck. Brother-in-law had a 2404 IH loader tractor. Every bit as stout as the Case 420 plus had PTO. It had a reverser, 20% faster reverse than forward. If you want a loader tractor then buy a Real Loader Tractor, as new as you want to afford. A loader on a farm tractor is not even close to the same thing unless you get a 150+ hp farm tractor to put a loader on.
