Too many variables. First of all, WHAT is it that's slow? Just YT? Or everything? I come in sometimes and sit here for a minute or more before a page loads, yet all other websites seem to work great. ...Is the computer slow while offline, or only while online?
What kind of internet do you have? Today was a weekend, which usually means high internet traffic. Everything from dial-up and DSL to satellite and cellular gets bogged down if there isn't enough available bandwidth for the number of people surfing the web.
What kind of 'puter? Speed? Do you run Scandisk or defragment your drive? Have any security software running? Do you know what other programs are running in the background? Do you keep images enabled? Do you see all of the advertisements on every page? What about Malware? Auto updates? Is your hard drive getting full?
Also, if your PC is older, there's a good chance you have loaded up and later deleted many files and programs. There may still be traces of these files/programs that work to slow your system down.
But wait, there's more! ...However, best to start with the basics. Do a web search on "how to speed up a slow computer" or "why is my computer slow" and you'll find lots of helpful sites. But beware, not every site is an honest one. Only go with websites that you have heard about for a long time, as they will be most likely to provide the help you need.
I have Norton Security on my PC, but also downloaded the free version of Avast. It was an experiment, and one I will soon correct! Avast has slowed my system down considerably. Keep in mind that having too much security doing too many things in real time will also slow down your system and eat up your resources. One thing I like about Norton is, it optimizes my PC while it's sitting idle. I also have ALL updates to notify me, but allow me to say when I want to download updates. Sometimes I have time for updates and sometimes I don't (or don't feel up to it). Likewise, sometimes my connection is slow, while other times there is plenty of bandwidth and everything is cruising along nicely.
Lastly, BACK UP EVERYTHING before you begin!! Cannot stress that enough! Go to Walmart or Amazon and buy a USB hard drive and back up everything on your PC before doing anything else. One tiny mistake, whether on your part of due to mis-information or misunderstanding can create problems. Save your photos specifically. Any personal videos? Save them specifically. Personal files? Save them specifically.
...One more thing - and I should have mentioned this much earlier on, but clear out the cache on your browser. If you're not sure how, do a web search for instructions, "how to clear my browser cache". ...And also, check to see if your computer is full of dust. It may be running hot due to poor circulation, like having a clogged radiator on a tractor.

Today's Featured Article - 12-Volt Conversions for 4-Cylinder Ford 2000 & 4000 Tractors - by Tommy Duvall. After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
