As the old saying, "What goes around, comes around". I have a good neighbor, too- his tractor is busted, and he needed to load out some compost- about a 10 minute job. I noticed my tractor was low on fuel, so I filled it up before I took it down, because I didn't want him to put in 20 bucks worth of diesel for a 10 minute job. When he brought it back, he had washed it and lubed all the zerks. He said "You threw me a curve by filling it up, so I couldn't. So I had to think of something else to do."
Then there's my other neighbor- Loaned his grandkids a sled many years ago, never got it back. Loaned his stepsons a splitting maul, didn't see it for about 3 years, and when they brought it back, the handle was in such bad shape that the next blow was going to break it. I'm sure they brought it back so they wouldn't have to put in a new handle. I had already bought a new one, so am keeping the old one in reserve in case they want to borrow it again. Actually, the patriarch is a pretty good guy, and watches my place, so I don't want to alienate him. Its his two useless stepsons, and his worthless granddaughter (all of whom live with him) who are the problem.

I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. Not a place one would associate with farms or farm machinery. I credit my parents for instilling a lot of good values, a respect for learning, a knowledge of various skills and a little knowledge of farming in me, amo
