Sometimes honey works be better. What if the previous owner would contact buyer with lets say the owner's manual to car, another set of keys or something that goes with the car he traded in.
Give the owner the address of buyer and have him go take to him face to face.
My daughter got her car stolen. Her car was driven to a government low rent housing. Her personal belongings were left on the ground. A resident found daughters name and address. They called to say what they found. I told her my daughter was upset because her leather jacket was taken. It was the last jacket her late mother gave her. The resident that called must have known who took her car, because my daughter got her jacket back. Car was found in a parking lot in town.
