They will need 3-4% of their body weight in dry matter per day. So 1000 lb. cow will need 30-40 lbs. per day of dry matter. So if your hay has 15% moisture in it then you would be at 35-45 Lbs. per day of hay. IF your going to feed them grain on top then you can reduce the hay intake to 2-3% per day.
Now after all the fancy math. LOL I used to figure two small square bales per three cows per day. So about 2/3 of a bale per head per day. Now my cattle have always gotten feed or silage on top of hay in the winter months. My cow usually weight 1200-1400 lbs. per head.
I think the cows your talking about would be smaller framed. So your requirements would be lower but I still think that two bale per day would be close.
