Hello everyone, I have a neighbor that is building a firewood processor, and is using this pump on it powered by a 371 Detroit. Anyway, this pump and engine combo came off an old bucket wheel trencher/tile machine that is probably 2 or 3 times as old as me. From looking at it, it looks like a 2 section gear pump. Or, is it just a huge 2 stage pump like on a log splitter?? He was asking me if it's adjustable for pressure, and I said I had no idea about it if it's a 2 stage type pump, but if it's just a 2 stack pump, the valve controls the pressure, as I didn't see any sort of relief on the pump. He currently has the smaller portion just looped together. It is running a 6 or 8 inch cylinder, and says it is running incredibly slow, and wondered if it could be sped up. That's why I'm wondering if it is a 2 stage pump possibly. I didnt have a lot of time to look it or his plumbing over to see how it was set up. I told him I had a place I could ask where someone might know. Thanks guys
By the way, I told him he ought not to use iron pipe for hyd pressure if it ends up being over 750 pounds or so.... he's an older fellow and "been using it for hyd line forever" lol.
