: : I hope to buy a Ferguson 20 diesel over the next few weeks and would be grateful for any advice on common problems, things to watch out for etc. I am looking at both 3 & 4 cylinder versions - which is best? : : Don't ! Buy is the best advice I ccan give. Buy a gas model instead. Unfortunately I am based in the Republic of Ireland where diesel engines are the norm. Some TVO (i.e. gasoline/kerosene) versions are still around but seem to be outnumbered about 10 to 1 by diesels. I haven't seen any 100% gasoline powered models yet, and I think a lot of TVO and Gas (Petrol) F20's were converted to diesel in the 1950's ( a Ferguson conversion to a three cylinder diesel) during a time of high oil prices. I would be delighted with any general information on systems common to both types of engine e.g. gearbox, clutch, brakes, hydraulics such as common failures or quick checks, or sources for service manuals/handbooks on the model, especially the diesel Thanks for the suggestion anyway!! Michael
