The J stands for Rockford clutch. One of the suppliers to IH back then. It is considered to be slightly heavier duty than the Auburn clutch that was also supplied. The other number is the casting number and date for the engine block. The engine serial number is near the #1 spark plug on a flat surface and stamped in. Jim

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
