@ Crazy Horse: Thank you! Yes, fallout is an issue that few think about or understand.
@ gwstang: The US military was not equipped or trained to handle a hostage rescue as the failed attempt proved. Delta had just been formed and the Seals just didn't have the people for that large of an operation. Never mind the logistics or transportation issues. Yes you can lay a good portion of the blame on JC. He was the CIC. If you do a little research the Joint Chiefs came up with a plan and JC had it changed to suit him. That IS NOT saying the original plan would have worked. The biggest thing we lacked at the time was the aviation assets needed to make any plan work. That's more or less the reason that the 160th "Night Stalkers" was formed. The Navy too has vastly improved aviation assets to support the SEALs and the AF now has assets to support special operations. Unfortunately the idea of stopping ships and or denying a country access to food and medicine doesn't wash today in most cases. Humanitarian aid goes through most of the time. And sanctions don't work. The leaders and their buddies get everything they need. It's the masses who suffer. And in places like NK the masses either don't have the weapons needed to rebel or are so repressed they will not. So if a brutal dictator doesn't care if the people suffer and the people don't have the assets to raise up those sanctions are nothing more than a slap on the wrist if that. Look at Iraq. After Desert Storm there were many sanctions imposed against Iraq. Hussain, his family and others high up in the government had everything they needed and wanted. The government/Hussain was so brutal that the people didn't dare raise up. If they tried he put them down with chemical weapons and tanks. The whole idea of sanctions is to get the people to revolt. To my knowledge it's never worked yet with brutal dictators. Look at what's going on in Venezuela. They may have that revolt in the making but the government is working hard at eliminating any potential leaders.

Today's Featured Article - Hydraulics - Cylinder Anatomy - by Curtis von Fange. Let’s make one more addition to our series on hydraulics. I’ve noticed a few questions in the comment section that could pertain to hydraulic cylinders so I thought we could take a short look at this real workhorse of the circuit. Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
