9N starter switch

After putting new coil cap plug wires battery battery cables fuel line head gasket repriming oil pump and cleaning carb 4 times (shrug - who knows why...) the old ford started and ran nice.

stalled it on a small grade and when i hit the starter switch , nothing!

put bat cables from PU onto frame and starter and she started right back up.

but i push the switch and nothing happens.

ps.. i am not in gear. i know it has a starter switch lock out.
