Saturday was the Cowtown Days in Ellsworth, Ks. Big parade that was lead by 75 or so Texas Longhorn steers. The drivers took them right down through the main street of town, just like the old cattle drive days. The steers had done this before, I believe the owner of them is from OK or TX and takes them to many such drives. The teams of horses and mules followed behind the steers, and then antique cars, tractors, and other after that.
I was asked to pull the Topeka, KS Fire Department 1904 Steam Pumper. This was actually used in Topeka at the turn of the last century. They have a couple of pictures of it back in the day, one of them is from a Newspaper that caught them as they were heading to a fire, pulled by 3 big percheron draft horses. The steamer weighs just at 5000#, so it is not an easy pull. I have not pulled it before, and was a little nervous, but The Boys did a fine job. It was a workout for them..however..lol! Other than a little hot, it was a perfect day.

Sadly though all his efforts seemed to be a waste of time and money as he still couldn''t get the temperamental old thing to run correctly!! If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce
