I have seen a ton of units that worked fine on copper core wires. Its been a while but last time I spoke with them or checked their information it was on their higher energy unit they recommended carbon core so called "suppressor" plug wires........Its important the elec switch is rated to handle the current the coil draws so coil resistance is another important factor as low coil resistance may draw more amps then the switch is rated for which leads to switch failure...........
