We initially switched to just ground pork, but it really lacked flavor. Then she'd add burger seasoning in with it, but still something seemed lacking. So finally she asked if I thought a half-and-half mix of pork and beef would taste OK, and I said try it. At first she added seasoning, but was really strong then. Now she just mixes the pork with whatever the lowest-cost ground beef is, just a slight touch of salt, and we can't seem to get enough!!
The pork is full of flavor, but that doesn't seem to come out much when it's "just pork". Adding in 50% beef (not extra-lean) brings it to a new level. Add a slice of American cheese, sweet Hawaiian buns, and any other fixin's you like and have a blast!
