We have a 6.7 diesel in a 2011 F450. Empty it gets about 13 MPG, loaded it gets about 6 MPG (or less). The original engine self destructed at 95K miles - the Ford replacement engine (not a long block - entire "new" engine - including turbo) gets the same mileage.
Same driver used an owner's Dodge 3500 with Cummins, he got 17 empty and 10 loaded - the Dodge already had 170K when we borrowed it.
With that first hand experience I would go with a gas Ford any day.
