Quite true and I have been lucky in that knowing a neighbor has nearly always lead to a basis of trust. There was a guy that lived next to a field that I no longer work and we got started off on the wrong foot and it only went downhill from there. The guy dumped trash from his mobile home remodel into the field and had the nerve to blame his neighbor who I knew and knew that was NOT doing any remodel work at the time. And there is a guy in the community who pretends to be my friend to my face but has been heard to trash me or my family when he is drunk. I just don't put my back to him to give him the chance to hurt me. I am sorry he had a hard time of it growing up and that his dad could not get his act together but I never called him out or his family on their problems.
