We had an old hermit that lived alone up on the hill He had a small farm and a JD "D" tractor. He had been to Alaska in the war and us boys would sneak off and go up to see him. We thought he was the smartest man alive. He swore every other word and told such big lies but we believed every word he said . He would let us sware and smoke cigarettes and he would give us hard cider We thought he was a hero. Then we would go home and try to tell these stories to the old man and he would say you boys believe his big lies and we would get mad because the old man was not a believer We would say what do you know ? There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
