How much over full was it?
Reminds me of dad's neighbor. He was a first time JD model A owner. Removed the wrong plug and drained the transmission instead of the crankcase. Then tried to put ten gallons back in in the crankcase! He had oil running out everywhere! Dad still laughs about that.
I use to service cars, truck, tractors. Everyone had their own idea as to how much oil they wanted. Had an old farmer that was a Ford man right down to his lawnmower. He insisted all his engines be over full in case he got a leak.
Had an old widow lady insisted her oil be exact on the full mark. If it wasn't you heard about. Or if a drop of oil from her car got on her garage floor.
Then there was old Roy who read somewhere too much oil could ruin your engine. He wanted his car and pickup to be half a quart low at all times.
Glad I don't do that any more. Found out it is impossible to please everyone.

After two summers of having to park my old 1964 model 4000 gas 4 cyl. on a hill just in case the 6 volt system, for whatever reason, would not crank her, I decided to try the 12 volt conversion. After some research of convert or not, I decided to go ahead, the main reason being that this tractor was a working tractor, not a show tractor (yet). I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
