My vote is also to leave it alone. When it comes to off topic posts, there is usually no better place to post them where they will get the attention they need for quick answers. If there were a separate forum for say hydraulics, how many WITH THE KNOWLEDGE would be checking in there and reading and posting? Here, if there is a question about hydraulics, I can either read it or pass it over. My choice. BUT, the experts in that field may never go to a relatively inactive forum to see if somebody needs help. The same goes for cars, trucks, trains, and anything else with an engine. Or not, as in the case of implements.
I might add, as a former SysOp (before the big internet boom), I took DELIGHT in seeing a lot of activity on the forums. An active forum invites more activity. A dead forum will slowly fade out until it dies from lack of participation.
