Lots going on trying to get the combine ready for beans and calving going on. I haven't been on much so I didn't realize I hadn't kept you all in the loop.
Was at the doctor today. Down another three pounds. I'm about to get nearly desperate. I had to carry a calf up to the barn from the pasture the other day and I sure noticed I have lost muscle and stamina. Worse yet, replacing the cross augers on the combine I couldn't get the shield nuts loose! I was standing on a ladder and just stepped off the ladder and hung in midair on the ratchet. I just hung there and laughed at the stupidity of it all. The doctor today (my internal med guy) is baffled and is sending me back to the GI specialist. When he did the scope he biopsied five spots. They were some sort of cell mutation that usually turns cancerous but at this point they are fine. I was sure encouraged. Not. My doctor said it may be that my arthritis is attacking my organs and has thickened my digestive tract making food absorption be reduced. He was a little put out that the GI doctor hadn't gotten to the bottom of it and told him as much on the phone. He must have used choice words. The GI doctor called my cell phone before I ever got to the car.
The 7800 has really been a deal. I put a new wheel speed sensor in it which made her right as rain. For a while. Now it's something different. If I push in the clutch and shift down several gears it trips the transmission light and won't move - I have to shut it off and restart it. Things like roading it through town and stopping at a stop sign and shifting back several gears to start out are now more interesting. You have to shut her down. If I bale with it I have to step down to neutral when a bale is ready without using the clutch or I have to restart. I've started just doing the outside swaths and then making a big loop until it is done tying and kick out the bale on the go and head back into the windrow. It's the most bizarre thing. It always involved multiple gear downshifts and the clutch. That is the most I can tell at this point. If I don't use the clutch at all it doesn't do it. I love that tractor but she is giving me fits.
Guys are just starting to shell some corn here in NE Kansas. Glad I don't have any. Those 800 acres of beans sure are going to be hard to cut with those cross augers laying on the shed floor, though. I should have the poly flighting on them and the trough liners in in the next week or so. My low number beans are just starting to turn so I got a chunk of time.
