: You might want to try the link below. They are doing studies on tractor stability and such. Follow their links around and you will find some very interesting studies. Phone calls with them are also interesting. : The legalise you are getting isn't meally mouthed. What with impliments, weights, adjustable wheels and steering, there is no simple answer. One word of caution, don't go mounting wheel weights think this helps you on roll stability, they don't. They have a resulting center of gravity right about where the center of gravity of the tractor already is, so there is no change in stability, just weight and traction. Also, be very aware of dynamic instability. You might be barely stable while not moving, but letting out the clutch and especially turning the tractor can take you right over the limit and flip you. Thanks for the link address; some interesting work being done there. The only weight I've added is the liquid in the tires. This seems to offer some lowering of the center of gravity, however, I'm not sure how much difference it really makes. The static vs. dynamic stability shows up quickly if sudden or even some slow direction changes occur. I prefer keeping a bit further from the rollover point so that unexpected things do not put it over the edge. I do not treat this lightly and may still opt for the goats.
