I have a 1986 MFWD (pre serial split) Case IH 1896 with about 6500 original hours and recently had the PTO blow up. Several parts from output shaft to disc hub broke. I pulled the PTO unit replaced all the broken pieces and put it back together, PTO works perfect now. However I now notice an rpm drop of about 100 when shifting through 2nd range. This occurs anytime it's in 2nd range whether stopped or moving and if shifting up or down 1-2-3 or 3-2-1 and it 's always about 100 rpm no matter if running at 800 rpm or 2000 rpm. I'm very certain this started after the PTO blew up as I never noticed it before. The fluid was very clean, filter was very clean, and there was almost no sludge or fragments of any kind on floor of transmission when I pulled PTO out to repair. Any ideas on what could be going on?
