This is interesting. John Deere 6620 hydrostatic owner's manual says the gear portion of the transmission uses HyGard (Deere's hydraulic/transmission fluid). HyGard is about like motor oil in viscosity. Picked up some low viscosity oil for the hydro part of the transmission at the dealer. While there I ask the service people at the dealership about the gear portion of the transmission. They said it uses 85 - 90 wt. I said no, the manual says HyGard. Service manager said when they come in here they leave with 85 - 90 wt. and most of them running around out there have 85 - 90 wt. in them. He looked it up and sure enough it says HyGard. So what should it have in it???? I know there is an oil pump in the gear portion of the transmission. Seems like it would be hard to get 85 - 90 wt. into a pump if it was really cold let alone pump it to the top of the transmission. What should I use?????? Thanks.

Finding where and how it can be used correctly is key to whether you are using it as an "inelegant hack" or an integral solution to difficult and expens
