We built a log house in a large lot subdivision about 25 yrs. ago and a number of people did the same thing while we were building, would drive up the rather long drive to get a closer look. I tried to be nice as I didn't know who was just a nosy passerby or a neighbor that owned a lot there (we were the first to start construction so no one else lived there yet). Worse the next door neighbors who started their place shortly after we did were measuring set backs and square footage of the other places in the development to see if they complied with the regulations, including ours. They quizzed us on the side set back based on some stakes we put in the ground to gauge the angle of the house on the lot, those weren't the final location stakes. Didn't like them after that and that was not the last run in with them. They got caught in one house measuring the floor area, and were promptly told to leave and never come back. Needless to say they were not any sort of friends after that.
