The 5000 is quite a lot more tractor than the 990. I own and love my DB 990, but the 5000 is one fine tractor. The baler and haybine would be fine on the 990. The chisel, that's where the 5000 is going to walk right away from the 990. OTOH, the 990 is a real fuel miser and a darn solid rig, nimble too. If HP is one of your criteria the 5000 simply wins.
We're assuming the 5000 is a straight gear drive and not a Selcto-speed, right?
