Actually faster than .000001 second (one microsecond)on fast switchers. Other thing is that there are no moving parts, nothing to arc, nothing to oxidize and all that good stuff. On electronic switching, many new appliances have thermostats and power controllers operated by solid state electronics that respond well to the new solid state rather than mechanical relay controls to which we are becoming accustomed via the remote control.....for everything seems like.....to an extreme if you ask me......but you didn't. Grin
My wear mechanism for years was the thermostat with the mechanical sensors and contacts that hunted around several degrees between on/off/on, like in air conditioner's especially, sloppy performance. No more with electronic controls. Set it to XX degrees and that's where it runs.
