Came outside this morning to see this set up. The dairy farm near me had a custom outfit combining the cornfield behind me last night. I bet this will be running in that field Monday. It's from the same custom place, must have moved in last night. I've seen this working one other time. The wings in the back fold down and incorporate the manure right into the ground. Last year they had a big tank they set in the field. A smaller spreader kept the field tank full, hauling from the farm manure pit. Then this big spreader would suck it out of the field tank. This might be old news to some of the livestock guys on here, but I was impressed! Back in the early 90's my grandfather had a hog farm with a 1.2 million gallon pit. He'd haul from it with a 4000 gallon tank behind a Deere 8630, and a smaller tank behind a 4640. Hauled to the field with semi's. My brother would help, I was too young, but I thought that stuff was big at the time.
Side story that just came to mind- one day a DOT cop set up and pulled Grandad over in one of the semi's loaded with manure. He thought Grandad was overweight (which he was) and told him " Pull on these scales or it's a $xXxX fine " Grandad pulled his calculator out of his pocket and quickly did the math on what the fine would be for how over weight he was. Decided the fine was cheaper to not pull on the scales. Told the cop he wasn't moving. Really made the cop mad. Ultimately, he said he shouldn't have done that. They went to court, cop said " He knew exactly how overweight he was, he figured out his fine on a calculator!". Made a good story though!

Today's Featured Article - Hydraulics - Cylinder Anatomy - by Curtis von Fange. Let’s make one more addition to our series on hydraulics. I’ve noticed a few questions in the comment section that could pertain to hydraulic cylinders so I thought we could take a short look at this real workhorse of the circuit. Cylinders are the reason for the hydraulic circuit. They take the fluid power delivered from the pump and magically change it into mechanical power. There are many types of cylinders that one might run across on a farm scenario. Each one could take a chapter in
