Heard a ruckus from the hens late one night sure enough a skunk in the pen with them, grabbed a 22 and took care of it, figured I would wait for daylight to get it out of there.
Come morning it was one of those everything that could go wrong was going wrong kind of days and I had to go to town.
Well the thing is not stinking so it can wait until I get back.
Got back about 6 hours later and before I was halfway down the driveway I was already gagging temperature was in the 80 range and not even the slightest a breeze.
As chickens like to peck that was exactly what they did, they had opened up the stink sack on the dead skunk and how they could stand it I don't know but they were still at when I got there.
Backed the truck up to the pen and somehow between dry heaves managed to load it up and haul it out to the back pasture.
Could not keep eggs for over a week as they had a skunky smell/taste to them.
