Son set a live trap to try and catch a farral cat. Caught skunk instead. Old dude down the road said if you can throw a blanket over it in the cage it wont shoot ya then can let it go.. We chose to use a LOOOOOONNNGGG stick and pull the pin to open the release door. Wouldnt come out. So used a water hose with an end that shoots a direct stream.. it must have rained on him for 5 minutes before he/she got uncomfortable enough to leave..
We now use baling twine to attach to release pin if we set the live trap..
Heard you dont want to shoot them in trap or the trap is useless?!?!
