My opinion is that you did an outstanding job. I don't know if I would call that temporary. If it holds up and protects the metal, the next owner of such a tractor would inherit it. What you did is also outstanding. "Field" repairs generally work out well too. Looks nice, and I'd bet works just fine.
I'm a pretty lucky fella. There's an Amish fella over on RT 25 in Shipshewana that makes metal yard art like shepherds hooks and stuff that will sand blast and powder coat just about anything including pickup truck frames. Someone told me about him, said he's on the north side of Shipshe on the west side of the road, can tell his place by all of the stuff up at the road, and a Deere too. He's reasonably priced and does a good job. I take my stuff to him.
