There was a little flash rust in one spot before I could get it dried out. Not much but it was there nonetheless. I rinsed it five times with hot water, then stuck an air hose in there to dry it quick. Maybe a shot of phosphoric acid would handle it? At first I wasn’t planning to coat it but now that I see how clean it is I might go ahead and do the coating. This tank has two baffles and it’s only ten gallons so coating it will take some finesse.
The sender was rusted tight but I got it freed up without damage. The copper resistance strip in the cap is hardly worn as is the brush that rubs on it as the float moves. I have good vibes I can get it working.
