Same here... our insurance won't pay because they say we are TOO YOUNG (and I've heard it costs about $300 each). We're in our mid-50's.
BUT our daughter got a mild case in her 20's!!!
My sister got a mid-range case in her mid-50's and she was in a fair bit of pain for a good long while.
A good friend got shingles in her early 50's... docs gave her a shot right away and it did seem to lessen the severity of my friend's case.
Great aunt got shingles in her upper 70's... lived a few absolutely miserable years. Doc's even removed a small portion of her brain to try to kill the pain for her. It was awful!
An elderly guy in our neighborhood got shingles... probably in his 80's. His seems to come and go - and he has said at times he is just miserable.
