A big part of working with inspectors is for you to do your homework ahead of time so you are aware of everything that is need before your permit can be approved so you can deliver those things correctly the first time. That helps demonstrates that you do know what is required and that you intend do a decent job. Omitting or forgetting things, taking short cuts, not knowing the codes, not knowing the permit application process, arguing, expecting special favors or exemptions are all red flags that you may not know what you are doing and that you might build something that will become a long term problem for the county.
Remember, you can sell out and be done with the property at any time. The county will still have to provide services and will have to deal with the every future owner of that building for as long as the structure stands. They have skin in the game too.
If all this is beyond your will or your ability, consider hiring a contractor to handle to construction for you.
