For mine I used a hyd pump off an old grain truck and power it with pto from an older tractor, w/o live power or hydraulics, so it puts it to good use. The other advantage is the splitter is always home, difficult to borrow. Works really well. 6" cylinder has a 36" stroke. The tractor splits most everything, just off idle, running maybe 12 - 15 hundred rpm. No small engine to fight, no small engine screaming at you. Awesome set up, in my mind. Rear wheel assembly is off an old 1 wheel trailer, makes the splitting part of the unit totally accessible. I've since added another remote and built a lift ramp to bring the larger rounds to the splitter, rather than the skidder bucket.
