I had goodluck with the Cockshutt gas tractors and they would start any time in the winter as long as the block heater was plugged in. Same on my Massey Super 90 Perkins diesel. Depending how cold, half hour to 3 hours will have that diesel warm as summer and running on the first turn of the starter. Diesel tractors were not popular here until farms got bigger and required bigger tractors. Big gas tractors were a lot thirstier than diesels of the same horsepower. Plus the diesel engine seemed to last longer and stand up to long days in the field better than gas tractors.
