When I was starting the resto project that I am in now, My mentors all told me that glue-on is the way it is done now. The guy who builds high end hot rods discouraged it for my project though. He explained that with years of heat cool cycles from the sun that the bond will slowly open up. For a car that is in constant use and racking up the miles then going to the crusher when 20 years old it is the way to go, but for a resto where you want it to last longer, not so much. It sounds like Panel Bond is the way to go for you. Be sure you kill the rust with a phosphoric acid product before putting it together.
