Google GM engine piston slap. I have a 01 6.0L, got the engine replaced. They were replacing engines if they were noisy enough. I had the extended warranty to 60,000 miles, had over 59,000 on it and got a new engine. There was a lawsuit on the early engines. I have 127,000 on the new engine they put in, the oil pressure still runs over 40 lbs. at idle. GM was replacing engines, but if you went in and ask----if you had one of the noisy ones they wouldn't admit it. I came home and printed off a few pages, took them in and within a week I got a new engine.
