Arnt there computer simulations that can be run for combustion patterns? Just running around on U'tube there is all kinds of stuff. If it is too intermittent I would guess that anti knock sensors wouldn't be fast enough? Just trying to figure. I'm just happy playing with my garden tractors and chainsaws. At the Rough and Tumble steam museum in Kinzer,pa they have a monster of an engine. Just standing near it as she is running makes you hair stand up. Can't recall the name. Crosley or some such. Was from a pipe line pump staion. Liquid Natural gas and this thing not only pumped it but also ran on the LP. Was a single cylinder engine but fired from both sides of the piston. Almost like a giant locomotive that has been captured and chained down to do work in a dungeon or a work pit. Very impressive.
