A 47 would be a front mount Distributator and there is lust 2 5/16" bolts holding the complete unit on. The only way there could be a gab is if those bolts are falling out and if it was that loose to have a gap like that then the tangs that fit into the cam shaft that drives it would not make connrction for to be able to get it to run. So only thing is if somehow the bottom of the distribuator got busted off. But I see no way that could happen. That is same distributor as on my 44 2N that in the last couple of months we had off severral times. Just make sure when you take the distributor off you do not loose the bolts as I think they are 7/8" and 1" hits the timing gear.
