My daughter is 36. Long story, but when she turned 18 she went out on her own and later rejoined the family. She wasn't a bad girl, just very independent. Anyway, her grandparents aged and passed while she was "gone". She is now a lovely lady doing pretty neat veterinary stuff. My lady friend is younger and her Dad came with her for Christmas and inspite of mobility issues he is still sharp. She commented this morning how she never got to know her grandparents as an adult and enjoyed talking with Al. Hopefully you will get to have some grandkids get to know you as adults.
