Jacks, I agree. On the newer vehicles with ECM, anti theft and alarm systems, battery backup memory, the only way to test is with an amp meter.
A test light is not enough to carry the load through to the residual level. I found that out trying to trouble shoot a late model Harley. It was plagued with battery discharge while parked. Spent a couple days trying to find a draw. Finally put an amp meter in the series, watched as the draw slowly diminished to near zero. Turned out to be a bad battery.
My assumption on the tractor, it is old enough to not have electronics, other than aftermarket accessories. But still, an amp meter test will tell a truer story.
