I had three uncles, lifelong bachelors who farmed together, who were such John Deere fans that they wouldn't even buy any short line equipment. If John Deere didn't make it, they didn't need it.
For that reason, my father refused to own a piece of John Deere machinery.
I've been indifferent. I've never owned a JD tractor, but I have owned a couple of JD combines and a few other assorted pieces.
