I've been a Dodge man my entire life so I get it when you say you will not consider anything but a Jimmy.
So, for what it's worth: Do the "Build and Price" thing. I would also encourage you to build and price some 3500's, you might find out that you can get a one ton cheaper, with more options that a 2500.
When I'm in the mood to go truck shopping I probably "build and price" 20 - 25 different option packages. I have found that dealers do not stock the type of vehicle that I want and need. They are interested in making the most profit (and who can really blame them). When I do all the "building and pricing" I learn and always know much more about the truck that any of the sales staff. So knowledge is power.
You might also think about HID headlights, collision avoidance, back-up cameras etc. As we age we lose some of our senses and need a little bit of help to keep out of the other idiots way.
Enjoy the process, it doesn't sound like you are in a big hurry. Find out what you want and be ready if big discounts etc are announced. I would also tell the head man at your local dealer that you will be buying a truck, you would like to stay local, but price matters. Ask them to let you know of sales incentives that might occur.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
