Re:pto shaft problem. The shaft can be a little difficult to remove. no you are not missing anything in trying to pull it out. remove the four bolts holding the shaft in at the rear of the tractor. Our splined shaft has a hole in it through which I can pass a 3/8 bolt. I can then yank on the bolt. It does often feel like something is holding it, but there should be nothing holding it. The inside end of the shaft is also splined and it goes through the hydraulic pump and into the transmission. The engaging leaver slides a sleve over the shaft to make it continuous with the rotating transmission. I think.
